Heart Attack Sticker Shock

    Shop Ahead!
     Best Buy Heart Attacks

Like peace in the Middle East and the Tooth Fairy, some politicians actually believe in the reality of a market-driven health care system – where consumers are able to seek out the best prices for health care the way they buy a car, or put on a roof on their house.
By locking in the best price for a stoke or lung cancer.

Which, of course, is total doo-doo.
Especailly when the Big One slams you in the middle of the night.
   And
the 911 paramedics won't drive you to a hospital offering the best deal on chest pain.
   Anyhow...
In the spirit of health care non-system,
we've provided the mean sticker price for both heart attacks and less dangerous chest pains at Broward's non-profit government* hospitals. (*The assumption being that government health care will cost less than for profit medicine.)

Hint: Smart health care consumers will head for Memorial Miramar during their next heart attack – and avoid Broward General where their cardiac costs are almost double.
